Nancy Sarmento Barkhordari is a litigator focused in crown liability and professional negligence. Nancy has represented litigants in matters arising out of institutional negligence, battery, false imprisonment, charter infringements and other torts. Nancy has a special interest in written and oral advocacy, including motions advocacy and appellate advocacy, and she has appeared as counsel on several motions at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and at Court of Appeal for Ontario. At the Court of Appeal for Ontario, Nancy acted as co-counsel for the appellant and responding party on a seminal motion to quash. She was also involved in a series of motions involving a) admissibility of an affidavit in lieu of a transcript of the hearing that was not recorded, b) a motion for intervention, and c) several motions to extend the time to perfect the appeal.

Nancy is also involved in the interventions committee at the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. She is co-CPD liaison of the
